The Bolinger Family packed up their suitcase, homemade travel kits, cooler full of beverages, and all necessary electronics on a Friday night, in order to leave first thing the next morning for an adventure packed road trip – end destination: Boston.
Fully expecting to spend hours upon hours of time in the car, we were prepared to stretch our legs by making a couple of stops before actually reaching Boston. Our first stop was the Arch in St. Louis, Missouri.
Some tips when visiting the Arch:
- Order your tickets ahead of time by phone! The lines were horrendous… Thankfully, my friend, Marian mentioned to purchase tickets in advance! We went straight through the reserved ticket line in a matter of seconds and were able to trade our 4:00pm tickets in for an earlier time.
- Be prepared to go through a security checkpoint, which could take a while depending on the crowd.
- Take advantage of the Monument’s Museum of Westward Expansion while waiting for your tour time. When they say that you shouldn’t get in line before your allotted time, they mean it!
- The line to get down to the trams is just as long as the ticket lines, which are unavoidable by that point. There’s a lot waiting and anticipation…. must be patient!
We grudgingly got back into the car and continued on our journey. Gregg, our master chauffer, got us through Illinois, Indiana, and part of Ohio, where we ended up crashing for the night. Stay tuned for more pics and details from the Bolinger Family Road Trip in days to come!
Happy to have seen the Arch!
