Back in the car… bright and early…. Sunday morning…. On our way to New York!!!
We drove for one extra hour that day, slightly out of the way, in order to see one of the coolest things I have EVER seen – Niagara Falls!!!!!
THE FALLS ARE AWESOME!!!! Our entire family enjoyed this sightseeing stop and are ready to go back again! This photo was taken right up next to the Falls at walking level. What an awe-inspiring, “looking and listening” experience. I could’ve spent hours, right there in that spot, just drinking it in!
On our way to the Maid of the Mist boat tour, we walked up on the observation deck to get another view.
These two family photos (above) are the “before” pics – taken before what I am dubbing “The Royal Drenching!”
The Bolinger’s are on board the Maid of the Mist – ready to get up close and personal with Niagara Falls.
The boat ride was pretty smooth and calm to start out with. As we got closer and closer to the Falls, the boat began to toss about and the light mist turned into a heavy downpour! We got DRENCHED!!!
We were able to see the American Falls and the smaller Bridal Veil Falls, which are separated by Luna Island. These are both on the American side.
We were also able to see the Horseshoe Falls on the Canadian side, which are separated from the American Falls by Goat Island. Taking photos on this excursion was obviously challenging because of all of the water, so I just snapped pics whenever possible and then hid my camera in a water-proof bag for the rest of the time. This is where the homemade desiccant packets came in handy, keeping extra moisture out of my bag, and they worked!
These are the “after” family photos – after “The Royal Drenching!”
All smiles, the Bolinger Family thoroughly enjoyed this experience and highly recommend it!After the boat ride, we decided to dry off by taking a climb to the top of another viewing area.
Gregg and the kids are getting closer to the top!
AND, we all made it! There were lots of people posing up there, so cameras were being swapped and photographs were being taken. A nice gentleman offered to take our picture since Gregg took a pic for his family!
All of the scenery was so breathtakingly beautiful! We didn’t want to leave…. But alas, the road was still calling our name.
Onward, to Syracuse, NY for the night! Needed to sleep tight in preparation for another big day! More tomorrow, friends!
HAPPY, HAPPY to have experienced Niagara Falls!
