Bolinger Family Road Trip – Boston

On Monday morning, we drove another 5 hours through the peaceful, verdant New York countryside, where there were plenty of beautiful farmsteads and vineyards.

We finally arrived at our intended destination:  Boston!

We saw a ton of traffic!

We saw an impressive cityscape!

And, we got to see the Taylor Family!  Gregg’s friend/business partner, Hycel, and his family live just outside of Boston.

The Taylor’s welcomed us with open arms and a vegan lunch, which included Hycel’s homemade carrot soup from his own personally created recipe!  We chatted for a little while and let the kids play at the park while figuring out the plan for the day.  Venus, Hycel’s wife, had gotten passes for the Museum of Science, which sounded like fun to us!

We rode on the metro train system – this was a first for the kids, and they were amazed that this type of transportation even existed.  Likewise, the Taylor kids, Jasmine and Buddy were amazed that we do NOT have a metro system back home…!

The kids all had a blast exploring the different sections of the museum.  It was such a BIG place that we weren’t able to see everything in one afternoon – I would definitely go again!

Outweighing Ben on the teeter totter.

Jasmine, Alex, and Buddy patiently watching a chick attempt to hatch from an egg.  Persistence paid off for Buddy – he got to see the chick hatch!!!

Playing with optical illusions

Posing with the giant grasshopper

It was a fantastic day spending time with long distance friends, who are our extended family!  This was the kids and my first time meeting Venus, Jasmine, and Buddy in person, instead of over the computer.  Alex dragged Jasmine all over the place and fell in love with her instantly.  As it turns out, Ben and Buddy have a ton in common, including, but not limited to:  legos, construction, and video games.  And, what are the chances that Venus and I have turned out to be crafting soul mates?

The kids have expressed to Gregg and I that their favorite day of the vacation was “Taylor Day” – all of us can’t wait to see their gorgeous family again!

Happy to have made it to Boston and Happy to have spent the day with the Taylor’s!
