Georges Island – Part 2

So, we’re temporarily stranded on an island with an hour to spare….

We’ve explored the fort from bottom to top, we’ve eaten lunch, we’ve played on the playground…

What did we decide to do for the remainder of our stay on Georges?

We decided to explore the shoreline and the ocean!  Alex, the Brave, found a crab claw and even picked it up to show her brothers!  We found TONS of purple-ish sea shells!  Checked out a couple different kinds of seaweed.  There were also a bunch of red bricks scattered all over this particular beach area from construction projects in times past.

We somewhat ignored the “No Swimming” sign and “played” in the water!  We had driven ALL the way to Boston and taken the ferry ALL the way out to the islands, I thought that we should get a little bit of leeway with this one.

Landlocked people getting crazy in the ocean!

Who needs to be fully submerged in the water in order to have a blast in the ocean?

Not us!  Although, the kids did get pretty soaked, and Ben slipped & fell backwards into the water, which was just hilarious!  The only waves we saw were ferry-induced, they were small but fierce, crashing waves!

I was actually quite surprised at just how strong they were…!

We splashed…

We ran…  and played for that last glorious hour!

Saying “Good-bye” to Georges as we hopped on the ferry and headed back to Boston.

Enjoying the scenery on the voyage back to the marina.
Christian dancing to Olivia Newton John’s greatest hits – this child sure knows how to enjoy life!

Back on the mainland,

we encountered live entertainment,

a carousel that the kids just “had to ride on,”

fun public fountains in which to play,

and more architecture that fit in nicely with my fascination for photographing reflections!

Great experiences filled with great memories!

Happy for such blessings on our vacation!
